South Wales Wave Classic 2025 : Wales is back!
The 2025 South Wales Wave Classic kicked off with pumping conditions at Trecco Bay, bringing the UK windsurfing community together for a weekend of high-octane action. With cross-shore winds, blue skies, and a clean swell lining up perfectly, Day 1 delivered everything competitors and spectators had hoped for and more.
Whether you’re a die-hard windsurfer or just discovering the thrill of wave sailing, this year’s event is already shaping up to be unforgettable.
Day One Recap: Clean Lines & Big Moves
The morning started calm, but by mid-morning, sails were rigged and riders were charging. The swell built steadily, and the breeze filled in just enough to power through the single elimination heats. With local fans and holidaymakers watching from the sand, competitors laid it all out in a series of tightly fought showdowns.
The conditions held long enough for the double elimination bracket to kick off. This gave early-round exits a second shot and pushed frontrunners to stay sharp.

Ben Page – Men’s Pro Division
Ben Page wasted no time setting the tone. His early heats were defined by surgical wave selection and explosive turns, especially on the steeper sets rolling through the point. Confident, precise, and clearly in sync with the conditions, he’s not just competing. He’s dictating the tempo of the men’s pro fleet.
Izzy Adcock – Women’s Division
Izzy Adcock made it clear from Heat 1 that she was the one to beat. Her rides were clean and aggressive, with tight cutbacks and smooth rail transitions. She dominated every match-up, staying composed under pressure and making smart tactical choices in every heat. So far? Undefeated, and looking untouchable.
Putting South Wales back on the map
The South Wales event marked a significant milestone for the British Wave Association, with its successful debut exceeding all expectations. BWA Chairman William Maclean shared his excitement, saying, "A South Wales event has been a dream of mine for many years and I'm so pleased with the event, conditions and results we've managed to roll out in the first try. We now have an established event in South Wales!"
Equally thrilled was event host Jim Brooks-Dowsett of Pura Vida Boardriders, who reflected on the weekend with warmth and gratitude: "Massive thanks to the crew at Coney Surf Café for keeping us fuelled and looked after, all weekend. Hosting an event like this right on my doorstep has been incredibly special, the energy, the talent, and the community support blew me away."
With ideal conditions, strong local support, and impressive performances across the board, the first South Wales event has firmly secured its place on the BWA calendar.
After the Action: Sunsets & Socials
As the wind mellowed out and the sun dipped over the bay, riders and spectators gathered at the Coney Surf Cafe for post-heat debriefs and hand made Pizza. Boards were stacked, sails packed, and stories swapped as the golden hour washed Trecco Bay in soft light.
